20 years of teaching: E.L.M Street Preschool celebrates 20 years

Back in 1999, a group of local women first started the E.L.M Street Preschool inside the Zion Lutheran Church.

Twenty years later, the preschool is still going strong, and the church will be celebrating the accomplishment with a special service on Sunday, November 10th at 9:30 a.m. Leone Junck, Board President of E.L.M Street Preschool, says the board is beyond excited to be celebrating this milestone in the community.

“It’s quite an accomplishment when a group of local ladies start a small preschool and 20 years later it’s still going,” she said. “We had our fair share of challenges and hoops to jump through. For the first 13 years, we ran the preschool completely on grants, donations and tuition. That was hard. When we got a state grant for four-year-old preschool, that helped a lot because now we can focus on more than just trying to keep the doors open.”

E.L.M Street Preschool is the only preschool in town that offers three year old and five-year-old preschool, along with four year old preschool.
