Action from boys District golf

Ogden golf coach Doug Stoakes said that even after a three hour drive, an overnight stay and the warmest weather this year, last Thursday at Districts, the boys played some of their best golf he had seen all year.

“Jacob Kathman finally got everything to click, shooting an 86. Ryan Nichols was burdened by penalty strokes, shooting an 87, but very easily could have had an 81. The rest of the team followed suit by playing better golf on a tough, but approachable course,” he said. The two Bulldogs placed 16th and 21st respectively out of a field of 56 golfers.

Class 2A District finals were held May 17 at Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City.

The Bulldogs took sixth with a score of 362. Kuemper Catholic was District champion, tallying 318. Jared Tigges of the KC Knights won the District at 71 strokes.

Ogden’s Jacob Hildreth finished at 93 strokes. Seth Bishop carded, 96; Jade Thompson, 98; and Preston Gronseth, 99.
