Boone County is designated as Home Base Iowa Community

The communities of Boone and Ogden, along with the county Supervisors recently passed resolutions to make Boone County a Home Base Iowa (HBI) Community. Home Base Iowa is a workforce development program that was created by the Governor’s office in 2014 and seeks to attract and recruit soon-to-be deactivated military personnel and their families to Iowa to fill the many highly skilled job openings available here.

Boone County Chamber and Economic Growth Corporation Executive Director Kurt Phillips worked with city and county officials, local industry and HBI staff to meet all of the criteria required to receive this designation.

Lt. Governor Adam Gregg welcomed Boone County to the program in a ceremony Friday, July 14 at Veteran’s Memorial Park, Boone.
