Boone County Sheriff Report - Jan. 9 - Jan. 20, 2014

 

Thursday, January 9

12:58 p.m.: Sgt. Wingate and K-9 Bandit assisted the Ames Police Department with a search of a house and located both meth and marijuana in the residence.

Friday, January 10

7:49 a.m.: A person called to report one of his employees was in the ditch on 216th just west of L Ave. The driver of the vehicle Tarron Streigle lost control on the ice covered road and went into the ditch damaging his vehicle and a fence. Streigle was not injured in the accident. 

7:56 a.m.: A person called the BCSO to report a truck on the ice at Waterworks Bridge on E-26. Deputy Godzicki responded to the scene and after a brief investigation determined the vehicle was stolen from Nevada, Iowa. The vehicle was towed and held for further investigation.

3:50 p.m.: The driver of a vehicle called to report that she was in an accident upside down in the ditch but could not tell the 911 center where she was at. The communication specialist for the BCSO was able to locate her by using GPS coordinates from her phone and got her some assistance. Deputy Pontius responded along with the Ogden Police Department and Ogden First Responders. Anna Stephenson lost control of the vehicle she was driving in the 900 block of H Ave. and rolled her vehicle into the ditch. Minor injuries were reported.

Saturday, January 11

4:59 p.m.: The BCSO 911 center received calls of a pick-up that had rolled over into a field in the 220 block 190th St. Deputies from the BCSO along with the Boone County Ambulance and the Boone Fire Department all responded. A vehicle driven by Forrest Grabau was attempting to pass another vehicle when it lost control on the ice covered road and rolled into the ditch and ended up in a bean field. Grabau was transported to the hospital, where his condition is unknown at this time. 

5:55 p.m.: A person called to report a vehicle in the ditch that had struck a power pole on I Ave. just east of 216th St. Deputy Fangman was advised and responded. A car driven by Andrew Stumbo lost control on the ice covered road, went into the ditch and struck a power pole. There were no injuries reported.

Monday, January 13

3:05 p.m.: A panic alarm was triggered at the Boone County Courthouse for an out of control juvenile. Chief Deputy Lampe responded to the incident along with Boone PD officers. The juvenile was restrained while awaiting transport to another facility.

Tuesday, January 14

9:44 a.m.: A person called the BCSO 911 center and advised there was a semi pushing a car down the road sideways at Highway 30 and Highway 17. Deputy Ruter was advised and responded to the scene along with the Boone County Hospital and Boone Fire. After investigating the accident there was no cause determined as to why the accident occurred. It was very windy and that may have played into the situation. The driver of the car Jacob Winters was cited for driving while suspended, driving while barred, and not having an ignition interlock device in stalled on his vehicle. There were only minor injuries reported.

Thursday, January 16

4:15 p.m.: A person called to report an accident involving a car and a semi just west of United Community school. No serious injuries were reported. Part of Highway 30 was closed for a short period of time because of the accident. The accident report was not available at this time. 

5:11 p.m.: Deputy Zeutenhorst assisted the Madrid Police Department with an out of control subject in the 600 block of West North Street.

The BCSO was kept very busy with numerous reports of accidents and vehicles in the ditch. There were no serious injuries to report. 

Friday, January 17

12:59 a.m.: Deputy Zeutenhorst made a traffic stop near the waterworks bridge on E-26. After a brief investigation the driver of the vehicle Jacob Ball was taken into custody on a warrant from Boone County for probation violation. Ball was transported to the BCJ. 

9:14 p.m.: A person called the BCSO to report an accident in the Seven Oaks parking lot. Deputy Twigg was advised and responded. After a brief investigation Teresa Kemp was taken into custody for further testing for investigation into possible OWI. There were no injuries reported. 

Saturday, January 18

10:08 a.m.: The Webster County Sheriff’s office called and advised they had information of a wanted subject who was at a residence in Boone in the 1600 block of 5th. Deputy Pontius went to the residence to check out the information and located John Hays. Hays was taken into custody and transported to the BCJ awaiting Webster County authorities.

Sunday, January 19

2:29 a.m.: A person called the BCSO 911 center reporting a vehicle in the ditch revving it’s engine for the last half hour at P-70 and 210th St. Deputy Fangman arrived on scene and located the driver of the vehicle Devin Sutton. After a brief investigation Sutton was arrested on two warrants from Boone County for probation violation, investigation into OWI, improperly transporting a firearm, driving while suspended, and fail to maintain control of his vehicle. Sutton was transported to the BCJ.

Monday, January 20

2:15 a.m.: Deputy Quinn made a traffic stop at Y Ave. and 160th. After a brief investigation the driver of the vehicle Mitchell Berns was taken into custody and transported to the BCJ for further investigation for OWI.
