Bulldogs’ season ends with 73-54 loss to Madrid

A third loss to Madrid this season was suffered by the Ogden boys’ basketball team, 73-54 during a Class 1A, district semi-final contest here Tuesday.

The Tigers outscored the Bulldogs, 41-22 between the second and third quarters to build commanding leads. Madrid led 36-22 at halftime behind a 21-12 second period and then took the third, 20- 12, stretching the lead.

“I thought our kids played hard all night long against Madrid. We mixed up our defense trying to stop their offense, which is really good. Braden Gibbons is a handful to stop and Madrid is a really good shooting team,” said Ogden coach Scott Church.

Braden Gibbons poured in a game-high 26 points and handed out seven scoring passes to power Madrid. Gibbons was one of four Tigers in double figures as Gabe Peterson hit for 15 points to go with 17 rebounds, Cayden Fuson 13 and Jacob Loew 12. The winners sank 10 three-balls with four each for Gibbons and Lowe.
