Bulldogs capture team crown at SCC Invite

The team title at the South Central Calhoun Invitational was captured by the Ogden boys’ cross country team here Tuesday.

The No. 15 in Class 1A Bulldogs bettered a 14-team field with an impressive performance. The team champions tallied 38 points with four top 10 placings and the fifth runner at 15th.

Senior Garrett Buxton finished first in the 88-runner field and junior Stephen Flynn was the bronze medalist. Buxton garnered the gold with a clocking of 18:15 for his first ever individual title, while Flynn ran 18:31. Buxton is listed No. 27 in the 1A individual rankings.

Ogden senior Landon Smith and freshman Jordan King rounded out the top 10, placing ninth in 19:07 and 10th at 19:15, respectively. Sophomore Linden Seeger was the fifth counter with a 19:31 clocking for 15th.

Ogden coach Ryan Kobliska noted it has been a building process for the boys. “Our varsity boys have made strong progress in their training over the past month, so it was great to get another chance to race and see them put it all together in a meet. Our top three continued to race well, but big improvements from Jordan King, Linden Seeger and Parker Trusler were what allowed us to score only 38 points.”
