Bulldogs on the short end of a hard-fought game

Ogden was hoping to put a damper on Panorama’s homecoming last Friday and through the first three quarters, it looked as though they may succeed. The Bulldogs (1-3) were leading well into the third quarter before the Panthers (3-1), took a 26-24 lead. They then outscored Ogden 14-0 in the final frame, for a 40-24 win.

The Bulldogs found success moving the ball both in the air and on the ground, and made some good defensive stops along the way.

Their 178 total rushing yards and 179 receiving yards, indicate it was a balanced attack.  Panorama on the other hand racked up 301 yards rushing, but managed just 88 yards passing.

What a difference a week makes.

“I thought we had improvement throughout this week’s practice and it showed Friday.  We weren’t able to finish the game but we put ourselves in position to be a really good football team on the road.  The kids started the game fast which is something we have been struggling with.

“I think this sort of game helps a team like ours build confidence that we are doing the right things and if we continue to work we will end up on the right side of several games this season.”

First Quarter

Panorama received the opening kick-off, but after gaining a first down, Ogden held, and with 4th and 11, the Panthers were forced to punt. A pair of penalties kept Ogden from gaining any ground and the Bulldogs had to punt the ball away.

The Panthers had good field position, starting their drive on the 50 yard line. They had a pair of rushing first downs, then passed for a third, setting up the two-yard touchdown run with 4:05 left in the quarter. After a failed two-point conversion, Panorama went up 6-0.
