Bulldogs tack on four more wins

The Bulldogs finished the week with an 8-3 overall record and  stand at 5-2 in conference play.

“Our hitting is getting better,” said Coach Dick Smith. “I  really like the way the team is playing together and executing. We won two big games against Madrid.”

The Dogs were scheduled to take on Woodward Academy Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday games are at home against West Central Valley, Boone and Des Moines Christian (a double header).

OGDEN 3 - RS 2

Taylon Engleen drove in the winning run in a 3-2 Bulldog win over the Roland-Story Norseman Saturday, June 2. Dylan Elbert continued the strong pitching as the Bulldogs have shown this year. Elbert pitched seven strong innings, scattering seven hits while allowing two runs

The Norse struck early and tallied runs in the first two innings for a 2-0 lead.  The Bulldogs cut the lead in half when a ball hit by Jacob Craven was misplayed by the Norse centerfielder, allowing Wes Clausen to score. With the Bulldogs trailing in the sixth, Carter Church led off with a double to center. Chad Mohr reached base on a fielding error, allowing Church to score and tie the game at 2-2. That set the stage for Engleen’s big hit.

The Bulldogs were led by Church’s double and Elbert’s strong pitching performance.
