Bulldogs win in overtime

Sam Christensen blistered the Knights from Woodward Academy in a 40-32 win in overtime Friday night in Ogden’s home opener. Christensen completed 18 of 25 passes for 302 yards and 4 touchdowns including a 71-yard touchdown pass to Jonah Tews. The quarterback also ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns.

The game maybe wasn’t pretty, but Coach Burger says there is never a bad win and it’s always a lot nicer to learn from your mistakes from a sloppy win than a loss.

“The kids played their best when it mattered most,” commented their coach. “We had a lot of unforced errors such as bad snaps and bad ball security, along with lots of penalties that will need to be cleaned up as we get closer to district play.”

The Bulldogs took a 13-6 lead into the locker room at the break.  The Knights came out as Anthony Ward got loose and picked apart the Bulldog defense running for 261 yards and 5 touchdowns as they scored 20 third quarter points to take a 26-18 lead. Ogden responded as Christensen could not be stopped, and scored 12 4th quarter points to tie the score at 32 at the end of regulation

Christensen led another scoring drive that put Ogden up 40-32. The Bulldog defense stepped up and slammed the door for the win.

In addition to Christensen’s 302 yards in the air and 118 yards on the ground, Aaron McCutcheon rushed for 108 yards. Tews had 7 receptions for 144 yards and 3 touchdowns. Taylon Engleen had three receptions for 56 yards and a touchdown.
