Bulldos garner several first place finishes at South Hamilton

The boys track team had two good meets which included a couple of first place finishes for some athletes.

In the first meet of the week, the Kip Janvrin Invitational at Panorama High School Tuesday, April 4, Andrew Stumbo clearly didn’t lose a step from cross country last fall as he finished in first in both the 800 and the 3200. He ran the 3200 in 10:12.60 which was almost 21 seconds faster than the second place finisher. He finished the 800 in 2:10.30 but Ogden’s head coach Rick Hamilton thinks that he can, and will run faster in the future.

“Andrew Stumbo and Blake Gregory ran a decent 800. They had to sprint the last 80 meters as they were challenged by a Glidden-Ralston athlete,” Rick Hamilton said. “They are capable of running faster times in the 800. The race was run too slow from the start.”

That wasn’t all the first place finishes for Ogden. Andrew Haberer had two personal best marks in the discus with 132-01 and the shot put 46-03. Those big throws landed him in first place for both events.
