Business Spotlight: Backwards Boutique

This story is part of a series of spotlights on local businesses.

This holiday season, the Backward Boutique at 1124 2nd Street, in historic downtown Perry, is dedicated to creating a unique customer experience.

“We offer new women’s clothing, specializing in unique pieces,” said owner Emily Leslie.

Selections include clothing, shoes, accessories and purses. Clothing ranges from extra small to three-X sizes. The Backwards Boutique features everything from casual wear such as everyday sweaters, cardigans and jeans to professional wear such as trousers, skirts and dresses, and from casual date night wear to tuxedo rentals.

Walk in, and you’ll see great stocking stuffers such as hats, mittens, gloves and pet sweaters. There are plenty of stylish holiday gifts, as well as apparel for every occasion.

But what really draws customers in the door is the one-on-one customer service.

“When people come, they get customer service unlike they get at Amazon. Also, there’s the shopping experience with the downtown setting and community as opposed to the mall experience,” Leslie said. “A lot of people are looking for more of an experience while they’re shopping rather than just the products offered. We give them the best experience we can.”
