BOONE – Boone County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections Philippe E. Meier has announced that Candidate Filing for the General Election, which will be on November 6, began on August 6th.

Individuals wishing to run for an office will need to fill out an Affidavit of Candidacy Form and a Nomination Petition containing signatures of eligible electors.  Anyone wishing to be nominated by petition for county-wide offices of supervisor, treasurer, recorder or attorney will need 192 signatures from the county.  The number of signatures needed varies based on the position being sought.  Those wishing to run for Boone County Public Hospital Trustee will need 50 signatures from the county.  Those wishing to run for Soil & Water Conservation Commissioner will need 25 signatures from the conservation district. Those wishing to run for County Agricultural Extension Council Member will need 25 signatures from the extension district. Those wishing to run for Township clerk or trustee will only need to complete the Affidavit of Candidacy Form.  Meier recommends that all candidates get more than the required number of signatures in case some signatures don’t count based on acceptance guidelines.
