Cast your kernel

For Oktoberfest, The Ogden Reporter hosted a mock political poll. We asked people to “Cast Your Kernel” for the politician of preference. 

Most people expressed a kind of weariness over the prolific political news and constant updates; at the same time, they would often say, ‘If I voted today, I’d vote for. . .’ and they would then cast their kernel.

As I counted the mock votes after the celebration Sunday, I found it somewhat interesting - how in ways the small town vote resembles what I’ve heard in the national news.  

Of course, Iowa, being the first to host the candidates, is fortunate to  hear all the potential candidates. At the same time, it splits the vote tremendously, and it’s hard to tell how reflective it will be of the final ballot.
