Construction to begin soon on Hwy. 169

Manatt’s of Brooklyn was awarded the contract for resurfacing of Hwy. 169 from Ogden south to Hwy. 141, a 15-mile stretch.

According to Jenny Hoskins, Resident Construction Engineer for the Iowa Department of Transportation, they are hoping to start patching the week of June 18. A pilot car and flaggers will be present during that time. As soon as the patching is complete, the road will be closed for paving. Anticipated start time is somewhere between June 25 and July 3.

Beginning at the south end and moving north, they will be paving approximately one mile a day. Those living along the route will be contacted about options for accessing their properties during the one or two days of inconvenience while work takes place in front of the houses.

“If weather cooperates,” says Hoskins, “the project should be completed in mid-August.”
