Cross country teams place fifth at Lake Panorama

Last Thursday’s race at Panorama gave Ogden cross country runners the opportunity to race every team from their conference, in addition to several strong 1A teams. The course challenged runners with numerous hills, tight turns, and narrow trails. Afternoon temperatures were close to 90 degrees, which slowed race times considerably.

The varsity boys’ race featured ten teams that have been ranked throughout this season, including #1 defending state champion Nodaway Valley.

“We tried to be aggressive early in the race to establish position before the course bottle-necks into the trails.,” said Bulldog Coach Ryan Kobliska. “That probably back-fired on us, as the heat and the hills made it tough for most of our guys to keep pace late in the race, and we finished fifth out of the 19 complete teams, and third among WCAC teams. Not bad, given the level of competition, but we know we can do better.”
