Dr. Vermillion retires after 55 years of providing medical care

Boone County Hospital (BCH) and Boone County Family Medicine (BCFM) said farewell to long-time physician Dr. Richard Vermillion as he retired from medical practice at the end of July. A small retirement party was held at the clinic in his honor with staff, family and close friends.

There are not too many in Boone and Ogden who do not know Dr. Vermillion. He has been a staple for BCH and has been providing medical care for 55 years, 14 of those with BCFM. Whether he took care of you, delivered your children, rode a bike with you, cheered on the Cyclones with you, or just greeted you, he’s had an impact on so many.

“Dr. Vermillion has played a significant role in the healthcare available in Boone County,” says Joe Smith, BCH CEO.  “He loved practicing medicine, and that is evident in the care he provided.  I know it’s not easy for him to step down from a profession that is so near and dear to his heart.  He will be greatly missed as one of our providers and will be hard to replace.”
