Freshmen boys test the waters

The boys track team had an up and down performance in their first meet of the season, but they have a bright future ahead.

The highlight of the meet was definitely the relays where Ogden excelled. Ogden did well starting off in the 4x200 meter relay where they finished in fifth which was a tight race. Ogden finished only 5 seconds behind the first-place finishers South Hamilton.

Ogden also finished only 4 seconds behind first place Winterset in the 800’s medley. That was good enough for 4th place. Their best finish was in the 1600 sprint medley where they placed 2nd. It was a tight finish. They finished behind Collins-Maxwell-Baxter by two seconds and ahead of Winterset by only 1 second.

Since this was the first track meet of the season, there were plenty of eyes on the freshmen at their first meet. There were many surprises during it, including Garrett Buxton in the 3200 meter run. Buxton ended up placing 3rd with a great time of 11:21.79.
