Girls defeat Madrid in Regional action

Ogden softball rolled past the Madrid Tigers 10-4 to advance in District action Wednesday, July 5 at home. The Bulldogs took advantage of 11 Tiger free passes in the win. Ogden continued to swing the bats well, collecting 10 hits on the night. 

The Bulldogs jumped out early in the top of the first. Ashton Boggess and Ellee Laws both singled. Denali Loecker hit a fly ball to center that was misplayed by the center fielder allowing both runners to score, giving Ogden a 2-0 lead.

The Tigers quickly responded when Hunter Raymond received a free pass. An O’Neal grounder forced Hunter out. O’Neal advanced to second then stole third base. She scored on a passball cutting into the Bulldog lead. Tiger Morgan Bruns tied the game when she homered to center field. 

After D. Loecker flied out to center, Kennedy Kruse reached base on an error by the Tigers first baseman. Kim Christensen and Maddy Loecker each received free passes loading the bases. Faith Mohr singled, scored Kruse from third, giving the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. Kami Wheelock was hit by the pitch scoring Christensen putting Ogden up 4-2. D. Loecker’s double highlighted a 5-run fifth inning as the Bulldogs put the game away. 

Ogden was led by three hits by Boggess and D. Loecker with two hits including a double.

Waterloo Columbus

 

The Bulldog battery of Maddy Leocker and Denali Loeckner was not enough as the season came to a end in a 4-3 loss to the Waterloo Columbus Sailors Saturday night.
