Girls lose close one to ACGC

The Lady Bulldogs’ lone game of the week was on the road against the Chargers of ACGC. The game was a back and fourth affair, but when the final buzzer sounded, the Chargers came out on top with a score of 54- 48.

Ashton Boggess and Abby Langel led the Lady Bulldogs in scoring against ACGC. Boggess scored 18 points and added seven rebounds. Langel added 15 points, making four shots from behind the three-point line, and added three steals. Meredith Adreon chipped in nine points, five rebounds, and five assists. Denali Loecker came off the bench and added six points and four rebounds.

Coach Ben Van Wyk thought  his team got off to a good start in the first quarter. “Our energy and effort were good for the most part,” he said. “AC/GC made some adjustments in the 2nd quarter to our full court pressure that I don’t think we adjusted too well, which subsequently gave them some easy buckets. I was pleased with how we executed offensively in the 4th quarter. We got a number of good looks out of our sets; the girls executed well. We simply didn’t get enough defensive stops at crucial junctures of the game. I think there are a number of learning opportunities within this game that will hopefully benefit us in the long run of the season.”

The Lady Bulldogs play at home Tuesday against Des Moines Christian and have a road game at Earlham Friday night.
