Grapplers are crowned Sectional champs

Ogden won its fifth Sectional title in the short 37 year history of the program and advanced to Regional duals Tuesday at Don Bosco where they took on the West Marshall squad (after presstime). A win advances Ogden to the championship match with either Don Bosco or Pleasantville.

Not only did the team as a whole advance, five wrestlers qualified individually last Saturday at Guthrie Center during Sectional competition.

Austin Lentz and Nick Ross were crowned champions after winning their weights at 182 and 195 lbs. respectively. Coach Brian Reimers said Logan Sturtz, Austin Flynn and Zach McCloud also had great days, bringing in runner-up spots.

“We still have a lot of work to do to get to Wells Fargo,” says Reimers. “This was one of the team goals for this group of kids all year. We really feel like we have a great chance of advancing all these kids, but we have to be about our business and take it one match at a time. At this level, we just can’t overlook any individual. It’s like a new season every week.

“Our mission this next week is to take care of the task at hand on Tuesday, and not matter what the outcome, we have to have ourselves ready for a tough district tournament at I-35 next Saturday.

Individual results can be found in the Feb. 10 issue of The Ogden Reporter.
