Gubernatorial candidate talks about his vision for rural Iowa

Jonathan Narcisse, Independent candidate for Governor, made a stop in Ogden Wednesday, Sept, 10, one of his many stops as he attempts to visit each of the 99 counties before Sept. 30.
“I want to give all Iowans, whether they are in neglected urban communities or rural communities, a voice in governance of the state,” said the Des Moines native of why he’s conducting a 99-county tour.
“Iowans pay taxes in all those communities and they should have access to those who want to represent them.”

Narcisse told the Reporter he is a strong supporter of a rural re-settlement strategy of investing in existing infrastructure versus the current policy of rewarding the abandonment of the core communities and destruction of land. He advocates pushing money back into the rural economy by allowing tax payers to have a say in where some of their tax money goes.
