High school manufacturing program gets a huge boost

Boone Iowa 6/28/2017 Employees from Monsanto’s Boone Corn Production Plant recommended the Boone County High School Manufacturing Program receive a $9,600 grant from the Monsanto Fund’s 2017 site grant initiative. Funds from the grant will be used for computer equipment.

Manufacturing Program instructor Rick Hamilton explained they’ll be purchasing 13 computers equipped with software to run their new plasma cutter, as well as 3-D design and 2-D drafting programs.

The Boone County High School Manufacturing program is a great example of a school district and teacher seeing needs of a local business and helping to fill that need with trained employees.
