Honoring our fallen, one footstep at a time

Armand Young has met plenty of Americans over the last seven years. Young, who is from Charles Town, West Virginia, has walked from the Santa Monica Pier out in California to Ground Zero in New York City and is now making his way back to California. Last Monday, April 14, he made a stop in Ogden.

Young, who is a former fire fighter for the Department of Forestry, started this walk back on April 16, 2007, is walking to honor fallen soldiers and the victims of Sept. 11, 2001. He is asking everyone that he meets to sign a six foot pole full of American flags. He is asking that whoever signs this pole to do an act of kindness for someone within 24 hours. This act of kindness is Young’s way of honoring a victim of 9/11 or a fallen soldier.

“Our soldiers die every day to make this world a better place,” said Young. “Why not give them a little help.”
