Jerald Wiedman

Jerald “Jerry” Wiedman, 81, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at his home in Ogden, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Service for Jerry will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, March 18, 2022 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden, Iowa.  Pastor James Buckhahn will officiate. Jerald Duane Wiedman, son of Fred and Frieda (Lepke) Wiedman was born on February 5, 1941 in Jefferson, Iowa.  Jerry grew up on a farm southwest of Jefferson and attended country schools until the third grade.  He then attended school in Scranton where he graduated from Scranton High School.  After high school, Jerry worked construction until moving to Jefferson in 1960, when he started with Franklin Manufacturing.  

In May of 1964, Jerry met the love of his life, Rosalie Stumbo on a double date.  They became engaged by the end of the year and were married on July 16, 1966 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden.  The couple resided in Jefferson until 1972, when they moved to Ogden when he began working for Northern Natural Gas Company. Jerry remained with Northern Natural Gas for over 38 years until his retirement in December of 2010.

Jerry was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden where he served as a past council president and was a council member. He also served on the property committee and as an usher.  His memberships also included the Ogden Lions Club, where he was a past president and board member, McGraw Senior Center, and the Jefferson Jaycee’s.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Rosalie; and sisters-in-law, Elna Mae Stumbo and Lois Stumbo; and brother-in-law, Doug Anderson.

Those left to cherish Jerry’s memory are his son, Todd and his wife Stacy Wiedman of Charlotte, NC; daughter, Pam Larsen of Lincoln, NE; granddaughters, Stephanie Wiedman, Kelly Khan, and Julie Rodebush, his grandson, Tate Larsen; brother, Gary Wiedman of Jefferson, IA; brothers-in-law, Dean, Jerry, and Doug Stumbo; and his sister-in-law, Susan Anderson.

Memorials may be mailed to: Pam Larsen at 1803 Normandy Lane, Lincoln, NE 68512 in memory of Jerry.  The Wiedman family will allocate all memorials to charities in the Ogden Community.
