Judy Busch

Judy Busch, 80, of rural Ogden, passed away December 1, 2024, at Israel Family Hospice House of Ames, surrounded by her 4 daughters. Judith Ann Busch was born August 25, 1944, daughter of Laverne and Dorothy (Rice) Groves of Rippey. Judy was the oldest of 3 children and attended school in Rippey and graduated in 1962.

On December 15, 1962, she was united in marriage to Ray Busch in Grand Junction at the Presbyterian Church. They lived in the Beaver area where they raised four daughters, farmed, and had livestock. Ray and Judy retired from farming in 2010.

Judy will be remembered for her fabulous cooking and hospitality! If you ever visited the Busch farm, you were treated to your favorites and never left hungry. Her favorite activity was making cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Judy also enjoyed gardening and flowers and was always sharing her plants with anyone who was interested. The local greenhouses all knew her by name and labeled her a VIP customer. She loved to go shopping with her daughters and granddaughters and could spot a gorgeous outfit that would suit any family member. When Judy was a young wife and mother, she taught piano lessons, her passion for music has influenced friends and family with beautiful memories around her piano. Judy enjoyed the farm life and worked hard all year round. She was the master bookkeeper of the farm until her final days. Judy treasured her family most of all. Her greatest joys were all her “babies” no matter what their age.

Judy is survived by daughters Brenda Slight (Mike) of Boone; Deb Lindgren (Jeff) of Ogden; Theresa Boettcher (Brad) of Ogden; and Sharon Larson (Charlie) of Ogden; 16 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren (and one on the way); sister Louise Cook of Waukee, brother Floyd Groves (Joani) of Rippey, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.

A visitation will be on Sunday, December 8, 2024 with the family present to greet friends from 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm at Slininger-Schroeder Funeral Home in Jefferson. Burial will take place at a later date at Beaver Cemetery, Beaver, Iowa. Memorials may be left to the family for their discretion.
