Judy Short passes away

Judy Arline Short, 76, of Hedrick, Iowa, passed away June 30, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer. Judy was born August 11, 1941 in rural Ogden, Iowa to Earl and Frances Harrington. She grew up on a farm with two brothers – Francis and Doug. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1959.
On February 14, 1962, Judy was united in marriage to Ronald Short and they were blessed with four children: Dorinda Jo, Ronda D, Regina Arlene and Ronald Dean.
Judy worked in the food industry for several years. Her hobbies included vegetable and flower gardening, fishing, sewing, reading and enjoying the outdoors. She was also a big fan of The Oakridge Boys.
Judy is survived by her children, Dorinda (Keith) Baker of Hedrick, IA., Ronda Meyer of West Des Moines, IA., Regina (Dan) Ruggle of Perry, IA., Ronald (Nicole) Short of Urbandale, IA., her grandchildren Chelsey, Stephen, Tyrel, Emily, Madelyn, McKenzie and her great grandchildren Gauge, William, Chloe, Caitlin and Theo. Her brother Doug (Ruth) Harrington and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents – Frances (Ralph) Holman, Earl (Wanda) Harrington, and siblings Sharon, Kenneth, Francis, sister-in-law Delores, nephew Scott and special friend Al Droste.
A graveside service was held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in rural Boone County on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. with luncheon following at St. Martin’s Episcopal Church 10th & Iowa Street Perry, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to AHeinz 57 Dog Rescue in Desoto, Iowa or Keokuk County Hospice and mailed to Gina Ruggle at 14218 Green Drive, Perry, IA 50220.
