Karen P. Shepard

Karen P. Shepard, 64, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Friday, October 14, 2022 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

A funeral service for Karen will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, October 21, 2022 at Water’s Edge Church in Ogden, Iowa. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Karen Patrice Reinberg, the daughter of Henry and Jean (Hancock) Reinberg was born on March 19, 1958 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She spent most of her adult life caring for her children and providing daycare out of her home. Later, Karen attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, where she earned her degree as a Radiologic Technologist and worked at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames until retiring in 2020.

On December 12, 1984, Karen was united in marriage to John James Shepard III in Memphis, Tennessee. The couple resided in Mississippi until 1991, when they moved to the family farm in Boxholm. In 2012, she moved to Boone where she currently resided.

Karen was fun loving and adventurous with a great sense of humor that could make anybody laugh. She enjoyed to travel by her motorcycle or Jeep. Family, friends, and her fur babies were most important to her. She also enjoyed gardening and recently planted and harvested strawberries with her grandkids.

Survivors include her children, Brandy Meyer of Huxley, IA, Amy (Eric) Birdsong-Jacobson of Gilbert, IA, Adam Shepard of Boone, IA; step daughters, Erika (Gino) Wilson of Holiday, FL, and Alice (Ron) Wilhelm of Snoqualmie, WA; six grandchildren, Madelyn (Josh), Benjamin, Christian, Sayvon, Corinne and Baylor; her brother, Tom (Sherri) Reinberg of Mumford, TN; and her fur babies, Calvin, Fannie, Gabby, Pillsbury, and Elvis.

In addition to her parents, Karen was also preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life, that she has been missing for the past 15 years, John Shepard; and her brother, Robert Reinberg.

Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
