Kenneth L. “Kenny” Townsend, 91, of Ogden, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Accura Healthcare in Ogden, Iowa.

Funeral services for Kenneth will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Carson-Stapp Funeral Home in Ogden. Pastor Evelyn Lewiston will officiate. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Ogden with Graveside Military Rites conducted by the Boone Veterans Council. Kenneth LeRoy Townsend, son of Milton and Maurine (Pearson) Townsend was born on August 9, 1933 in Odebolt, Iowa. He graduated from Grand Junction High School with the class of 1952. Following his graduation, Kenny honorably served in the United States Army from May of 1953 until April of 1955.

On September 21, 1958, Kenny was united in marriage to Joanne Jennie Huffman in Boone, Iowa. The couple resided in Beaver for a short time before moving to Ogden. Kenny was self-employed truck driver.

Kenny was a member of the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden. His hobbies included gardening, puzzles, and making homemade ice cream. He was also a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Survivors include his children, Douglas (Debra) Townsend of Fort Dodge, IA., Nancy (Orvale) Miller of Ogden, IA., Greg (Myrna) Townsend of Holmen, WI., Joel (Tina) Townsend of Milford, KS; grandchildren, Anthony (Patricia) Townsend of Grundy Center, IA., Megan (Shannon) Myers of Fort Dodge, IA., Jenny Lee and Darrel Luther of Grand Junction, IA., Jessie (Steve) Myer of Woodward, IA., Sarah (Ethan) Gingras of Ankeny, IA., Justin Townsend of Gardner, KS., Elisabeth Townsend of Holmen, WI., Alex Townsend also of Holmen, WI., Zach Miller of Pilot Mound, IA., Josh Miller also of Pilot Mound, IA; great grandchildren, Aubrey and Cannon Townsend of Grundy Center, IA., Kasey and Colton Myers of Fort Dodge, IA., Chance Cordes of Conrad, IA., Anna, Ryan, and Josie Gingras of Ankeny, IA., and Addison Miller of Pilot Mound, IA; his two brothers, Duane (Aleta) Townsend of Ogden, IA., Dudley (Marilyn) Townsend of Eldridge, IA.; one sister, Lorraine (Bill) Mount of Palmdale, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Kenneth was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Joanne Townsend; his son, Dennis Townsend; and grandson Logan Miller.
