Lady Dogs end week with a pair of losses

It was a rough start on the road for Ogden. After starting the season 2-0 last week, the Bulldog girls traveled to Des Moines Christian Tuesday night and were stopped cold.

The DMC Lions dominated the game right from the first tip, running the court and pressing their way to a quick 9-0 lead. Ogden tried to slow the game down with a zone defense, but were simply overwhelmed by the Lions’ superior size, speed, and shooting. At half, the Bulldogs were down 35-22. Things didn’t improve during the second half. Des Moines Christian started out with another fast 7-0 run, and only allowed Ogden 4 points in the third quarter. By the final buzzer, the Lions led 68-41.

After the game, Coach Lanny Stumbo talked about things to work on with his girls. “We’ll definitely work a lot on ball handling, defense, and rebounding,” he said. “Good rebounding, especially good box-outs, will work even against bigger opponents.”
