Loecker signs to play softball for Hawkeyes

Ogden senior Denali Loecker signed a national letter of intent to play softball at the University of Iowa recently.

Loecker committed to the Hawkeyes in September of her junior season and is excited for the future.

“It just felt like home when I went to visit. The coaches and players were great. My goal is to play Division-1 softball and in the Big 10,” said Loecker.

Loecker is one of nine signees for the Hawkeyes and head coach Renee Gillispie. Two girls each from Iowa, Missouri and Kansas, and three from California signed. Joining Loecker from Iowa is Brylee Klosterman of Iowa City Liberty.

“Coach Gillispie has made it a priority to recruit in the state of Iowa and I’m excited to be one of first,” noted Loecker.

Gillispie is starting her second season as the head coach at Iowa. A native of Iowa, she come to the Hawkeyes after 18 years as the head coach at UCF, compiling a 625-403-1 record.
