Love of reading leads to love of writing for this local girl

Author of the recently published, The Little Free Library Book, Margret Aldrich, says her becoming a writer really started with being a reader.

She tells how she would trail her dad to the library every Saturday and cozy up in the library’s great wicker hanging chair, book in hand, then leave for home with a big stack of books.

“My mom was always reading big novels and my dad was always reading newspapers or farming magazines, so reading just seemed like part of our family culture,” said Aldrich, a 1993 Ogden High School graduate. “I still remember Mrs. Hall reading us the biography of George Washington Carver and Charlotte’s Web in second grade. Add to that some great English teachers like Mrs. Smith, Mrs. Swanson and Mrs. Carlson (and more) and I had an amazing foundation for becoming a writer.”
