Sarah Majoros is already highly honored for her work as a school counselor, from earning grants from the Iowa School Counselor Association to awards from the American School Counselor Association. So it’s only fitting that the Madison Elementary School (Des Moines) counselor has been named the 2014 Iowa Elementary School Counselor of the Year by ISCA for going above and beyond to support her students in Des Moines.

“Ms. Majoros was recognized for the outstanding counseling program she has developed as well as for her leadership and advocacy in the field of school counseling,” notes Clare Struck and Shelley Klaas, co-chairs of the ISCA award committee. “She is a model professional school counselor who will do an outstanding job of representing counselors across the state in her role as Iowa Elementary Counselor of the Year!”

Sarah received her master’s degree in Counselor Education from Iowa State University in 2004. Since then, she has been a school counselor with Des Moines Public Schools.
