Meet Ogden's new school staff members

The Ogden Reporter introduces the new staff members at Ogden Community Schools. In addition to these new individuals, several staff members have taken different positions within the district.

Megan Brackemyer

Megan Brackemyer of Grimes will be taking over duties as a K-8 counselor. She is a Dowling High School graduated. Megan attended undergraduate school at the University of Northern Iowa  and received a Master’s degree from Creighton University. She spent four years teaching fourth grade at St. Augustin in Des Moines. She served as K-8 technology coordinator at St. Augustin for one year. She and her husband Bryan, who works at Wells Fargo, are expecting a baby boy in January.

Ann Christiansen 

Ann Christiansen of Grimes (originally from Northwest Iowa) is the half time elementary school counselor at Ogden. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in sociology/criminal justice, psychology at Iowa State University and has a Masters in Education from Buena Vista University. Previously Ann served as K-8 counselor at St. Theresa Catholic School (Des Moines) and Assumption Catholic School in Granger. Her husband Joe is employed by Wells Fargo. They have three children, Jocelann, 17; Annalise, 13; and Aubriann, 11.

Megan Claypool

Megan Claypool of Denison has taken the position of Title 1 Reading/ESL Teacher. She has a Bachelor of Science in elementary education with endorsements in reading and ESL from Iowa State University. Megan did her student teaching in the kindergarten classroom at her home town. She previously taught fourth grade at Dallas Center-Grimes. Husband Ben is a graduate research assistant at Iowa State University.

Marissa Elsberry

Marissa Elsberry of Beaver will be night custodian at Howe Elementary School. She is a 2012 OHS graduate and a 2016 graduate of DMACC with a degree in Liberal Arts.

Michael Huey-Jones

Michael Huey-Jones grew up in Dunlap, Ill. and got his Bachelor of Music Education from Millikin University. He will take over as vocal music instructor.

Michael started his career in Springfield, Ill as director of choirs at St. John’s Church where he spent three years. He since spent five years teaching with the Chicago Public Schools.

Hannah Huey-Jones, his wife, teaches kindergarten and first grade special education at Page Elementary in Boone. She also holds a degree in theatre and will be choreographer for OHS and OMS productions.
