Ogden’s housing needs is focus of town hall events

Iowa State University Extension & Outreach Community Economic Development will share the results of Ogden’s Housing Needs Assessment at two Town Hall events scheduled for later this month.

The Town Hall events will be held at 2 p.m. and repeated again at 6:30 p.m., on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Leonard A. Good Community Center, 114 SW 8th Street, Ogden. The event will include a presentation of data collected about community demographics, Ogden’s economy, the condition of existing housing, the housing finance market and the economic impact of housing and services for senior citizens.

Attendees will be providing input on future housing plans through an interactive, facilitated strategic planning session that will give participants an opportunity to discuss community housing needs and share their own preferences and ideas.

“Some of the topics that will be discussed are the potential for new housing, housing rehabilitation programs, and senior housing options,” said Abbie Gaffey, ISUEO Community Economic Development Program Specialist. “Housing impacts our neighborhoods, our economic development and our quality of life, so it is worth spending some time talking about what can be done to keep the community a vital and attractive place to live.”
