Ogden boys cross country state bound

Back to state goes the Ogden boys’ cross country team.

The Bulldogs advanced to the state meet with a third place finish at a Class 1A State Qualifying Meet here Thursday.

Ogden, 15th-ranked, scored 96 points for the third and final state berth behind highly-ranked Nodaway Valley and Earlham. No. 3 Nodaway Valley captured the team crown at 43 points with second-ranked Earlham the runner-up at 61.

The Ogden teams overcame adversity earlier in the day just to run. The bus carrying the Ogden cross country teams was involved in an accident on the way to the meet. None of the students or the bus driver were hurt and they were returned to the school in Ogden and released to their parents, according to Ogden Superintendent Pam Dodge.

Ogden coach Ryan Kobliska noted team members then rode to the meet with parents and meet officials delayed the start time by one hour allowing Ogden time to get to Mount Ayr and prepare.
