Ogden girl dies in car accident

Our community mourns the loss of a young woman whose life was claimed in a tragic car accident Wednesday, March 15, 2017 in Colorado Spring, Colorado.

Kelby Engleen, 21, is the daughter of Troy Engleen, of Ogden, and Laurie (Johnson) Engleen of Boone. She was a 2013 graduate of Ogden High School.

Police say a 2001 Jeep Cherokee driven by 22-year-old Wyatt Beaman was driving on an unpaved part of Old Shelf Road when Beaman failed to negotiate a curve and went off the right side of the road and down into a ravine. Three of the five occupants were ejected. Engleen and 33-year-old Jacob Busch of Colorado Springs were pronounced dead at the scene. The other three in the car, including Sydney Neubauer also a 2013 OHS graduate, were taken to a local hospital and treated for their injuries.

Kelby will be remembered by many as a young lady with a bubbly personality and a beautiful smile.

An Avon benefit to help with funeral expenses has been set up by Jeanone McClure. Contact her at 515-275-2956 or Jan Earll at 515-230-4875 to place an order. If you would like to help the family with a financial donation, an account has been set up at Vision Bank in Ogden called “Benefit for Laurie and Kelby Engleen.”
