Ogden High School hosts state solo and ensemble contest

Ogden music students claimed “Best of Center” in three of the six centers during the state solo and ensemble contest Saturday, April 5 when Ogden High School hosted nine schools.

Recognized for their outstanding performances were Henry Haglund (vocal solo); Grant Heineman (trombone solo) and the clarinet choir made up by Evan Klicker, Lexi Hamilton, Kristen Bennett, Betty Henderson, Garrett Kahler, Jordan Hance, Maddie Dawdy-Schelle, Haley Swigert, Karolyn Peterson, Kennedy Hiles and Zach Waterbury.

“This was another large contest hosted at Ogden,” commented vocal music director Dave Larsen. “There were nine schools involved - Ogden, Roland-Story, Van Meter, Woodward-Granger, Woodward Academy, Madrid, West Central Valley, South Hamilton and Panorama. We would like to thank all those who worked and helped out. It was a typical Ogden (class) community effort.
