Ogden misses out on heaviest rainfall

Ogden’s 3 inches of rain last Friday may have seemed like a lot, but it was nothing compared to what Dayton experienced - totals reaching over 9 inches - saturating the ground and sending Dayton Rodeo organizers scrambling to clean up the mess and get the grounds ready for their annual Labor Day Rodeo. Road closures were reported throughout Dayton along Skillet Creek.

Up to 7” poured down in the nearby town of Stratford. Vicki Stout of the Stratford Nursing & Rehabilitation Center said although they did not have to evacuate residents, they were on standby due to the flooding.

Boone County Conservation officer Andy Hockenson said the park area received about 4 inches, drenching the golf course there and temporarily cut off holes 4, 5 6 and 7. They are now in the process of cleaning up trails and car paths.
