Ogden volleyball team gets a pair of wins at Humboldt, defeating Emmetsburg and WB-Mallard

Ogden Bulldogs opened their season at the Humboldt Tournament, Saturday, August 29. Overall it was a good showing for the team as they went 2-4 on the day. In the morning the team played well but lost to Humboldt, Spirit Lake, and Fort Dodge, all 3A schools, two of which made state tournament appearances in 2014. The Bulldogs gained some ground against the other 2A teams at the tourney in the afternoon defeating West Bend-Mallard 21-18, 21-17 and Emmetsburg 21-8, 21-13. They also made a strong showing against South Central Calhoun, but fell in three sets 22-20, 9-21, 8-15.

“The Humboldt Tournament was a great start to our season, commented first year coach Ranee Carter. “I was proud of the girls coming out strong against some quality teams. Finishing 2-4 was a good showing for us considering we graduated six seniors last year and played some bigger schools Saturday.”
