Ogden will see first new men's stylist in almost 50 years

After 44 years, Ogden will finally have a new men’s hairstylist on Main Street. Olivia Smith, owner of Jo’s Haircuts for Men, will takeover the building that formerly housed Ogden’s longtime barber, Cal Hennick, as of August 1.<> Although not technically a barber, Smith specializes in men’s hair care; from cuts and styling to beard trims and waxing, she hopes to cater to the crowd that fell through the cracks after Hennick’s retirement by providing quality hair care in a casual setting. More than anything, Smith wants her customers to feel comfortable when they walk through the doors.

“I want people to feel relaxed as soon as they get here, and leave feeling their best,” said Smith.

A 27-year old Wisconsin native, Smith has lived in Boone for ten years after moving here when her mother took a job as a professor at Iowa State. As an adult, Smith recognized the excellent family environment small-town Iowa has to offer, and happily put down roots with her three children.
