OHS art program celebrates end of year with Spring Art Show

As another year winds down, the OHS Art Room has been busy with finishing up final projects and pieces along with reviewing art terms, techniques, styles and artists! A few of the end-of-the-year highlights however, include the West Central Valley (WCV) Conference Art Show, the OHS Spring Art Show and the Senior Show at the Ogden Library.

The WCV Art Show was set up and judged May 4, with the workshop day being Monday May 6. This year’s advanced art students: Jake Kathman, Emma Clayton, Kelsey Knight, Abbi Lentz, and Taylor Jones attended with Ms. Kruse. During the day, they participated in a Pour Painting Workshop, listened to presenters on Printmaking: Cody Sherman who owns Toaster Press and Jeremy Borcherding, a manager of I Work, I Play Screenprinting. Both talked about their printing methods and subjects and processes used and shared career insights. The students also viewed the show and were able to see 1,000 plus entries from the 8 schools participating. (AC/GC, DMC, Earlham, Madrid, Ogden, Panorama, Van Meter and West Central Valley) Ogden entered 45 pieces this year and Ms. Kruse was pleased with her entries. She selected work that reflected clean workmanship, creative and original layouts and strong design principles.
