OHS golfers making up for lost time

The weather is finally straightening around enough for the golfers to get out on the course. 

Ogden hosted Woodward-Granger last Tuesday at Don Williams Park then Madrid and Moines Christian Thursday. Southeast Valley hosted Friday’s meet at Dayton. The meets were without Ogden seniors who were gone for the week to Washington, D.C.

Both Bulldog teams came out on top Tuesday night.

The girls edged the Hawks 234 to 246. Kayle Walker was medalist shooting a low score of 49. Faith Mohr followed at 58; Shaylie Johannsen, 63; Libby Stonehocker 64; Ramsey Ross, 65; and Emalee Walker, 68.

Bulldog Ryan Nichols led all boy, shooting a 42. Kayden Kruse carded 47; Preston Gronseth, 49; Jacob Kathman, 50; and Carson Hayse, 51.

Thursday, April 19

Nichols had low score of the day, carding 38 for meet medalist, a single stroke ahead of Des Moines Christian’s Matt Wynne and Drew Shisler. Des Moines Christian ended the day at 160, Ogden 174, and Madrid 190.

Kathman stroked 44; Gronseth, 45; Hayse and Mason will, 47; and Kayden Kruse, 50.

For the girls, Des Moines Christian had medalist in Cece Sturdivant, who scored 29 and led her team in the win. The Lions tallied 221, followed by Ogden at 245 and Madrid, 253.

Kayla Walker and Johannsen were low scorers for Ogden, each carding 54. Ross stroked 65; Stonehocker, 72, Walker, 73 and April McGriff, 83. 

Girls at Dayton

Five girls teams were in competition Friday, April 20 at Dayton Golf and Country Club.  Southeast Valley edged Greene County 229 to 231 for first place. Manson-Northwest Webster took third with a score of 258, South Central Calhoun, fourth, at 261 and the Bulldogs fifth, tallying 282.

Low scorer for Ogden was Kayla Walker at 58 strokes. Libby Stonehocker carded 70; Emma Blair, 76; Ramsey Ross, 78; Emalee Walker, 83; and April McGriff, 84.

Southeast Valley’s Delaney Conrad was medalist at 41 strokes. Rachael Danielson of Greene County carded 43 to take runner-up honors.
