Olivia Willoughby shares her experience at the World Food Prize Institute

This summer I received an email from Lisa Fleming letting me know that I was selected to participate in the 2014 World Food Prize Global Youth Institute. John Fuller, my science teacher, and I traveled to Des Moines Thursday, Oct. 16. The Global Youth institute lasted two nights and we left Saturday morning. 

Getting to participate in the WFPGYI was such an amazing experience. I had the opportunity to listen to so many world renowned leaders including Paul Schickler (president of DuPont Pioneer), Tom Vilsack (U.S. Secretary of Agriculture), Enrique Martinez y Martinez (Mexico’s Secretary of Agriculture), Tom Harkin (U.S. Senator), Ambassador Kenneth Quinn (President of the WFP foundation), Dr. Sanjaya Rajaram (2014 WFP Laureate), and so many more.
