Rex Christensen

Rex Arnes Christensen passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2025. Rex was born at the Ogden Hospital on February 16, 1941, to Paul and Fern Christensen joining brother, Roger Christensen. He grew up on the family farm and attended Ogden Community Schools as part of the Class of 1959. After high school he attended Iowa State College for engineering and went on to join his family as part of the legacy of Highway Farms raising crops, turkeys and hogs. Rex was also a dedicated member of the Army National Guard for ten years. He married Janice Peterson and out of that union came his sons Craig and Cory, of whom he was so proud.
Rex spent his career building the farming and livestock operation where he developed a great sense of ingenuity and creative innovation. He had a love for building and creating including making an ultralight plane, welding to create artistry out of pieces of old metal, and working on his Alfa Romeo. While Rex worked hard, he also knew how to play hard including getting his pilots license, loving to ski, fish, travel abroad, and giving back to the church and community.
In 2007, Rex was united in marriage to Donna and added step-children and grandkids to his family. He enjoyed retirement wintering in Mesa, AZ, traveling, reading, becoming an ace at Texas Hold’em, and spending time with friends. His quick wit, easy going demeanor, and hearty laugh made him a favorite amongst his family and friends. Despite his health issues, Rex never complained, was always the medical team’s favorite patient, and when asked how he was doing would always say something like “things are pretty good today, you?”
Rex will be deeply missed by his wife Donna, sons Craig (Carol) and Cory (Jessica), brother Roger (Mary Ann), and grandchildren Kate (Austin), Kim, Margo, Sam, Abe, Jack, and Grace, great grand-child Della; his step-children Tony (Deb), Jeff, Jason (Kathie), Curtis (Sandy), Camille (Craig), 11 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren along with many cousins and dear, lifelong friends.
Celebration of life services will take place at the Ogden Community United Methodist Church on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Heidi Farmer and Pastor Joe Callahan officiating. Lunch will follow the service. The service will also be livestreamed on the Community United Methodist Church YouTube channel. A visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at the Community United Methodist Church in Ogden.
Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
