Sheriff's Report - July 1-15, 2014

 

Tuesday, July 1

4:56 p.m.: A person called from the 700 block of Leaf Rd. to report that a pack of dogs attacked his dog on his front porch. A deputy found the owners of the attacking dogs and spoke with him. The case remains under investigation.

5:04 p.m.: A person called to report a theft from his residence located in the 1100 block of 233rd St. A deputy responded and took the report and developed two suspects in the case. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

The Pilot Mound Fire Department was called out to the 300 block of Pilot St. in Pilot Mound on a house fire. The residence was not occupied and no injuries were reported. The investigation is continuing with the assistance of the state fire marshals office.

8:21 p.m.: The Calhoun County SO called to let the BCSO know they have Kenneth Jepsen in custody on a warrant from Boone County for failure to pay child support. He was transported to the BCJ. 

11:13 p.m.: The Boone County Hospital called to report they had a victim of a sexual assault in the ER. A deputy began an investigation into the incident, and the case remains under investigation.

Thursday, July 3

4:53 p.m.: A person called the BCSO to report one of his employees had run his forklift into the ditch in the 900 block of 222nd Dr. and was slightly injured. The driver stated he got too close to the shoulder for another car that was coming at him, and the shoulder gave way and forced him into the ditch. 

4:56 p.m.: A person called the BCSO to report a simple assault in the 900 block of 222nd. James Olszewski was charged with simple assault and left the residence for the day. 

5:41 p.m.: A person called the BCSO office to report that he found a family member passed away in his residence in Pilot Mound. The BCSO began an investigation into the incident. The death appears to be accidental.

9:11 p.m.: The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office contacted the BCSO and asked we check on a subject who had an outstanding warrant for assault on a peace officer that lived in the 1000 block of 5th St. in the city of Boone. A deputy checked the residence and located Brian Templeman and took him into custody on the Dallas County warrant.

Friday, July 4

8:33 p.m.: The Polk County Sheriff’s Office called and reported they found a stolen gun that was from an old Boone County case. The gun was taken into custody for a deputy from the BCSO to process on Monday morning.

Saturday, July 5

2:41 a.m.: A person called to report a vehicle on it’s top between Madrid and Woodward on Highway 210 with a person still in the car. Deputies responded and located the accident. The car was driven by Cory Stonehocker who as it turned out was not injured but highly intoxicated. Stonehocker was taken to into custody for further testing for possible OWI.

11:48 a.m.: A person called to report a vehicle on it’s top in the ditch in the 600 block of Juniper. A deputy responded and located the vehicle that was not occupied, but was stolen earlier from the city of Boone. The case remains under investigation.

Sunday, July 6

2:33 a.m.: A person called the BCSO to report being harassed by another person a the camp ground at Don Williams recreation area. A deputy responded to the area and developed two suspects in the incident, and the case remains under investigation.

9:47 p.m.: A person called the BCSO to report his vehicle was struck by fireworks in the 2100 block of 330th St. The caller told the 911 communication operator that he stopped and talked to the individual about it, and the suspect was now yelling at him and seemed to be intoxicated. A deputy responded to the area and talked with both individuals involved. The investigation into the incident remains under investigation.

Monday, July 7

7:37 a.m.: A person called to report that her husband was overdue at his place of employment, and was concerned that he may have been in a car accident. The BCSO had no report of an accident in Boone County, and the person was later found and was alright.

8:14 p.m.: A person called to report that 15-20 cars parked on the road in the 600 block of 335th St. The caller advised the people are protesting a hog confinement that the owner is building. A deputy responded but the people had left the area. The caller advised they were on his property beating on his door and windows. The case remains under investigation.

Tuesday, July 8

9:09 a.m.: Bryan Burnell Anderson was arrested on a Boone County warrant and taken to the BCJ.

6:52 p.m.: The BCSO received a report a of missing 13 year old with physical disabilities from the 1600 block of 329th Ln. A deputy began a search for the individual, and search and rescue was called to assist. As the search began a person called to report the person was found and at his fathers residence in Madrid.

Wednesday, July 9

1:15 a.m.: A deputy on routine patrol checked on a vehicle that was abandoned and discovered it to be stolen out of Ames. The vehicle was impounded and the investigation is continuing.

9:16 a.m.: A person called the 911 center and advised there was a person in the courthouse having some type of medical issue. A deputy was sent to the courthouse along with the BFD and the ambulance. Michael Feaker was cleared by the medical staff at the courthouse, and was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant from Story County and was eventually extradited to Story County.

7:04 p.m.: A person called to report an ATV accident with injuries in the 25 block of P Ave. The driver of the ATV tried to miss a dog and rolled the ATV over causing the injuries. EMT’s on the scene requested a helicopter meet the ambulance at the Boone Airport because of the severity of the injury. No injury update was available at this time.

Thursday, July 10

12:34 a.m.: A person called 911 to report an altercation taking place between a male and female in the area of T Ave. and 230th St. Deputies responded and located both individuals. The dispute was over child custody issues. There was no physical altercation and both persons were allowed to leave to go to separate residences for the night.

3:42 p.m.: A person called to report a property they own had been broken into and tools were stolen. A deputy responded to take the report. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

11:00 p.m.: A person called the BCSO 911 center to report a child running down the shoulder of Highway 30 by United Community School and a red and white SUV parked nearby. A second call came in and said he was with the person in the SUV and it was the mother who said she pulled over and the child jumped out and started running. Deputies responded to the area and began to search for and talk to the mother. K-9 Bandit began a track of the child. A third call came in from a resident in the area who said he had the child show up at his residence, and that the child was not injured. After a brief investigation and a call to DHS, the child and the mother were allowed to leave. The investigation into the incident is continuing.

Friday, July 11

12:13 a.m.: The Boone Police Department requested the BCSO K-9 to search a business in Boone where two open doors were found. A search was done by the K-9 but nothing was found. The owner was notified and responded to the area.

1:26 p.m.: The BCSO began an investigation into a possible sexual assault that occurred in the county. That investigation is continuing.

5:52 p.m.: A deputy arrested Ryan McDuffy on a warrant for failure to appear on traffic charges. He was transported to the BCJ.

Saturday, July 12

5:00 p.m.: A deputy began an investigation of telephone harassment in the 2300 block of QW Lane.

6:42 p.m.: A deputy arrested Joshua J Haggard in Ledges Park for failure to appear on traffic charges. He was transported to the BCJ.

9:10 p.m.: A deputy arrested Becky Perkovich on a warrant from Story County for theft in the third degree, and transported to the BCJ.

Sunday, July 13

12:28 a.m.: The BCSO was alerted by the family of a person who may be in Boone County and had made threats to end his life. The subject called his brother and advised he was beside a bike trail. With assistance of the cell phone company and a deputy from the BCSO, he was located in the parking lot of the bike trail west of Madrid. He was transported to his brother who was waiting in Madrid.

Monday, July 14

6:53 a.m.: The BCSO assisted the Greene County Sheriff’s Office with a person in Grand Junction who had stabbed himself and fled his residence. A search was conducted but he was not found immediately. The search was continuing.  

2:12 a.m.: A deputy checked on a suspicious vehicle in the Casey’s parking lot in Ogden that was occupied. The driver was checked on, and he advised the deputy that he was out of gas and was waiting for the store to open.

9:52 a.m.: A person called the BCSO to report sheep out on E-18 just east of the county line west of Boxholm. The owner was located and the sheep found their way home.

Tuesday, July 15

5:39 a.m.: A deputy stopped a vehicle for 95 mph in a 55 mph in the 1300 block of C Ave. The driver was checked and cited for the speed violation.

10:36 a.m.: A person called to report an accident on Highway 30 between X Ave. and Y Ave. A vehicle driven by Lawrence Johnson of Maryland was eastbound and attempted to switch lanes and struck the side of another vehicle driven by Penelope Jennings of Ogden. There were no injuries reported. Johnson was cited for fail to maintain control.

2:15 p.m.: A person called to report a motorcycle had just went down on Highway 169 and 335th St. and there were some injuries. The BCSO responded along with BCH ambulance. The motorcycle was passing another vehicle and caught a gust of wind which forced him onto the shoulder and eventually into the ditch where the motorcycle struck a driveway and vehicle and rider became separated. The driver was  transported to the Dallas County Hospital. His condition is unknown. 

11:22 p.m.: A deputy stopped a vehicle in the Ledges Park after hours. Both subjects were checked out and warned about being there after hours.
