WCAC meet turns into a two-day event

The Bulldog boys picked up Friday where they left off Tuesday when the meet was postponed due to bad weather. For this reason the Ogden Coed Meet planned for that day was cancelled.

According to Coach Ryan Kobliska, his boys ran season best times in four of the seven relays (800 medley, 4x200, 4x800, 4x400) and just missed in two others at this year’s conference meet.

“Last year’s team scored about the same number of team points at the WCAC meet, with most of them coming from two strong senior individuals,” said Kobliska. “For this team to match last year’s total required contributions from a lot of relays and many of our team members. While we were hoping to place a little higher, we’re excited to see this young group continue developing into a more well-rounded team.”

Top finishers for the Bulldogs were the 800 medley (Ethan Snedden, Cole Gunderson, Dan Christner and Blake Gregory) and the 1600 medley (Snedden, Lucas Elsner, Griffin Diggs and Jacob Hinman), both events placing fourth.

Gregory finished third in the 400 meter run and fifth in the 800. Fourth place went to Garrett Buxton in the 3200 meter run. Diggs finished fourth in the high jump.

Ogden competed Monday at Nodaway Valley (after presstime), then will head to Manson for the state-qualifying meet Thursday.
