Ogden volleyball battles with top conference teams
The Bulldogs faced the top two teams in the conference last week. State-ranked Earlham came out on top here Tuesday, Sept. 23 winning three of the four games: 25-18, 25-18, 24-26 and 25-20. Ogden fell to Woodward-Granger 14-25, 16-25 and 11-25 Thursday night on the road.
This week kicked off with matches against Prairie Valley Monday and West Central Valley Tuesday (after presstime). The Bulldogs are on the road at Van Meter Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Ogden vs. Earlham
Ogden volleyball girls played an intense match last Tuesday. Earlham is currently tied for first place in the conference with Woodward Granger, and is rated #15 in Class 1A.
“There was great support from the community with a packed gym, including the Aces players from our youth program that joined the team for the national anthem,” said Coach Shannon Zinnel.
Jenna Sheirbon, led the team in digs with 18.
“The other team began to attack and serve away from her, because she was passing so on target.
She had a great match. Kylie Westberg had 8 kills tonight. She does a fantastic job of seeing the block and the opponent’s court.”
Courtney Paulsen went down with an injury during warm-ups and was unable to play. Zinnel says they are not sure of the extent of her injury yet.
