Are your 7th and 12th graders ready to start school?

The Iowa Department of Public Health has made changes to the Iowa Immunization law for the start of the 2017/2018 school year.

This change requires that all students entering 7th grade receive the Tdap and Meningococcal vaccines. All students entering 12th grade are required to receive a Meningococcal vaccine.

Although some students entering 12th grade may have received a Meningococcal vaccine prior to entering 7th grade, some may not have, so your student may be receiving their first or their second Meningococcal vaccine.

Every student must have these vaccinations completed prior to the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017 in order to attend. There is no grace period.

Please do not delay making arrangements to have your children vaccinated either by your personal care provider or through Boone County Public Health.

If you have any questions please contact Tammy Wirtz, Ogden Community School District nurse.
