Softball season gets underway
to graduation Ogden softball coach Mike Moses admits he is not really sure what to expect for the upcoming season.
“We will have a lot of positions to fill and I don’t know how that will pan out,” says Moses, who is in his 13th year as head softball coach, having started here in 2005. “A big question mark: who’s going to step up and fill those spots?”
The team is very young with only one senior, Ashton Boggess. The remaining 18 girls are freshmen and sophomores.
Sophomore Denali Loecker split pitching duties with Kennedy Kruse last year for the Bulldogs. Fellow sophomore Meredith Adreon, one of just three players with much varsity experience, will be stepping to the mound to help fill the void.
Although having a young roster, Moses sees them entering the season with a target on their backs after winning the conference last year and finishing tied for first the year before. The Bulldogs ended the 2017 season with a second round regional loss to state qualifying Waterloo Columbus Catholic.
The Bulldogs have a busy start to the season with seven games in the first six days.
