Janet Lou Maas was born July 9, 1937, to Clarence and Mabel (Peters) Maas in Ogden, Iowa, where she was raised and educated.
Janet was united in marriage to Randall Reutter on July 7, 1973, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ogden. The couple made their home in Pilot Mound, where they raised their family and worked side-by-side farming.
Janet’s faith was a very important aspect of her life, she loved attending church. She was active on the church council at Trinity Lutheran Church and was still serving on committees to the present day.
Along with her faith, her family was the most precious thing in Janet’s life. She very much LOVED her kids, grandkids and great grandkids. She is remembered by them as being incredibly loving, generous and witty to family and friends alike.
She was a loyal and dedicated friend, with several strong friendships continuing from her years in grade school.
Janet was an active member of P.E.O., as well as Questers and enjoyed the annual spring outings at the old schoolhouse where she and their group hosted school-age kids and continued to keep alive the legacy of the old Iowa country schools.
She was an excellent gardener, tending to her flowers and canning produce. She had an eye for landscaping as well, directing Randy as to her designs. The couple traveled frequently, both in the U.S. (Alaska was her favorite) as well as abroad, and attended many Neil Diamond concerts over the years.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Randy Reutter; her children, Julie Pounds and Brenda (Eddie) Hellyer; her grandchildren, Leah (Chase) Chance, and their children, Aiden, Ethan, Joseph, Oliver and Lilian, Elyse (Shaun) Zatloukal and their children Owen and Olivia “Livy-Lou”, Conor Pounds, Christopher Lindahl and Nicholas Lindahl; along with nieces Susan Droessler and Jayne Temperley, other family members and friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Mabel Maas; her son, Kevin Lindahl; her sister Verval Sampson; and her son-in-law, Michael Pounds.
